admin@rcparishes.orgIn your time of need, Holy Rosary Parish offers the prayer of the Church and practical support for families of the deceased.
The Church has surrounded the death and burial of those who hope to rise with Christ with expressions of deep Christian faith. In the Funeral Mass and burial prayers, the Church gives voice to belief in the resurrection of the body, the communion of saints, and life everlasting.
Holy Rosary Parish offers support for families of deceased loved ones. A light luncheon or dinner is available upon request at Holy Rosary School. The parish organist and choir are available for funeral services, and parish volunteers assist families during this time of sorrow.
The Vigil for the deceased is normally celebrated on the evening before the Funeral Liturgy. The rosary may be included, and the Vigil may be celebrated in the home of the deceased, the parish church, or another suitable place.
At the Funeral Mass, the parish proclaims Christian hope in the face of death and prays for the departed, entrusting them to the grace and mercy of God. Organ music and the parish choir may offer hymns appropriate for the occasion.
Holy Rosary Cemetery offers a peaceful final resting place in the foothills of Pomeroy. All interments require a religious service, which may also be provided for a non-Catholic by a minister of the family's choice. Gravesite preparation and arrangements are coordinated with the funeral home.
The parish and celebrant do not charge a fee for funeral rites; these are customary suggested offerings.
| Service | Suggested offering |
|---|---|
| Vigil / Rosary | $150 |
| Funeral Mass | $150 |
| Committal / Graveside | $50 |
Other stipends may be given to musicians and/or altar servers. Reception costs are arranged with a representative of the Altar Society.
| Item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Purchase of a lot | $360 |
| Preparing a plot for a casket vault | $150 |
| Maintenance fee at time of burial | $150 |
| Vaults for cremated remains purchased from the parish | $150 |
All burials require a religious service and durable protection for the remains. Vault and liner options may be available through the funeral home and the parish.
The parish asks that burial plots be marked with a proper headstone. Memorial stones at the head may be standing or flat; additional rules apply to multiple burials in one lot.
